Yesterday I attended this year’s DDN conference after a three year break due to the pandemic.
I’ve been to many over the years and it was really great to see old faces and new as well as some I’d only ever met on Twitter! The best part was recognising those that I’ve known from moons ago, some of whom were service users and are now doing great things working in services and using their lived experience for the best reasons.
I was there on behalf of Changes UK and I gathered a fab team of our current residents and volunteers who volunteered their time not only to steward on the day, but to help prepare the delegate bags the day before. This turned out to be much hotter and harder work than anticipated!
In the drugs field all connection is key and events like this further allow services and service users to come together and recognise the values and strengths we have in force!

After many hugs and a lot of talking (and getting collared to be filmed by Jason Turner at isoremedia!) I left feeling happy and reinvigorated to keep on doing what we do.
‘All Together Now’.
